First key puzzle

How to Open the Red Bridge in Big Walk

The red drawbridge is the first roadblock. Your group needs to collect four gourd-shaped rewards from small puzzles, place them into slots, and then shape the resulting key to lower the bridge.

Step by Step

  1. Find four gourds. Gamerant describes the first big puzzle as requiring four gourds to lower the red drawbridge. The gourds are reward objects from environmental puzzles around the starting area.
  2. Place the gourds into the empty slots. At the key's location, put the four key items into the four slots. The mechanism releases a key.
  3. Shape the key at the key cutters. Use the shaping devices near the mechanism. Guides describe carving the key in multiple passes until it matches the bridge lock.
  4. Lower the bridge. Insert the finished key into the pillar beside the button platform and activate it. The red drawbridge lowers and the next area opens.

Tip: Destructoid and Gamerant both describe the first gourd as near the red gate where you entered the map. Work outward from the entry point and keep an eye out for small puzzle stations with a checker board or gourd reward slot.

Group Advice

Big Walk scales only for 2, 3, and 4 players, according to Screen Hype. With a larger group, puzzles add extra switches or point requirements, but the gourd-collection logic stays the same. Split up to find gourds, then meet back at the key mechanism.

After the bridge, the path leads uphill to the Red Tower, an upside-down cone building with its own five-piece puzzle chain. See Red Tower guide.
