Big Walk Beginner Tips

Communication First

• Use proximity voice chat. Conversations fade with distance and echo through enclosed spaces, which makes them part of the puzzle design. Walkie-talkies change how your voice transmits.
• Agree on signals before a puzzle starts. Many puzzles have timers or split players, so decide who goes where before grabbing the first object.
• Point with your arms. Players can independently control each arm to point, gesture, and communicate without words, according to Game8.

Exploration and Tools

• Learn at the interactive stations. The game introduces mechanics through small stations instead of long explanations.
• Expect day and night. Once the sun sets, darkness makes lanterns and flashlights essential tools, not optional extras.
• Collect bean-shaped collectibles. They contribute toward forging keys, and each key unlocks a new section or system.
• Get a backpack early. It adds an extra item slot and unlocks Big Pack; the first opportunity is in the Red Tower area. See Backpack guide.
• Take the map from the Red Tower. The map room marks completed areas and gives you a foldable map and compass on a nearby bench.

Puzzle Routines

• Split the work. The yellow maze, crane, and head count puzzles all reward one player per station.
• Mark hazards. In the minesweeper-style puzzle, place lanterns or items on red-star lamps; their positions stay fixed between attempts.
• Watch for visual language. The island guides players with landmarks, light sources, and the landscape rather than UI markers.

Performance note from Game8: at launch, the reviewer saw unstable performance on Medium settings on recommended hardware, and the proximity chat default volume was too low. If chat is hard to hear, raise it before relying on long-distance callouts.
